2007 District Employee of the Year
Recipient: Lyla Dettmer
The 2007 winner of the District Employee of the Year Award received numerous and strong nominations for outstanding accomplishments benefiting both the Soil Conservation District and the more comprehensive concerns of natural resource management as well. The number and types of accomplishments performed by this year’s nominee can best be presented by listing a selection of them for you:
· Assisting 8 Irrigation companies to obtain funding for their various projects where 3 of the companies installed projects totaling over 3 million dollars and serving more than 8000 acres.
· Wrote and received four 319 Grants
· Applied for and received four Conservation Improvement Grants
· Effectively manages the District Office and oversees 2 employees
· Developed a 3 week educational program for the County Alternative High School and regularly assists local elementary schools providing conservation education.
· This nominee wrote a proposal to Rocky Mountain Power for an energy savings program and was awarded a $900,000. contract to assist irrigators in southeast Idaho.
This nominee has provided exceptional and outstanding assistance to her conservation district for many years. Her District wants her to know that her contributions are appreciated beyond what words or awards can really express. That said, however, the Idaho Association of Conservation Districts is proud to announce this year’s winner of the District Employee of the Year Award as Lyla Detmer of the Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District.
Recipient: Lori Ringel
2006 winner of the District Employee of the year received strong nominations for a number of accomplishments benefiting soil and water conservation and her Conservation District. The person selected has been employed by her District for 15 years. During this time she has been very active in educating students during Stewardship week, the tree and mulch program, and she has worked tirelessly in promoting and assisting with Envirothon in her Division. She always sees to it that the District Poster contest is run smoothly and efficiently and most importantly that the kids ENJOY doing it! She has attended Leadership training sponsored by the Extension service in her county and has lent her skills to conducting Division meetings when called upon. This year’s winner is a team player who is always looking at the big picture. She is also a successful grant writer for community projects and has assisted greatly in achieving grants for the Senior Citizens center there. She has been referred to as the “quintessential administrative assistant” because of her loyalty to her District, her devotion to the conservation movement, and her intelligence in applying herself to her endeavors. She also happens to be the alternate IDEA director for Division 6.
