The Idaho District Employees Association (IDEA) was established in 1987 to represent the Soil Conservation District Employees' interests at the state and national level.
IDEA is a voluntary association of personnel employed by Idaho 51 Soil Conservation Districts, and is closely affiliation with the Idaho Association of Soil Conservation Districts, and the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD).
IDEA President also serves as an advisor to the Idaho Soil Conservation Commission.
IDEA is managed by a seven member board of Directors, six of whom are elected by the Districts in each of the six Divisions. An additional Director at Large is chosen from the same Division as the President of IDEA.
Officers include the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Historian.
IDEA activities are supported by district employee membership dues, fundraisers and a percentage of Idaho Association of Soil Conservation District (IASCD) profit from the IASCD annual conference.
The Idaho Soil Conservation Commission and the Natural Resource Conservation Service also provide funding to IDEA to assist the organization in conducting training opportunities for District Employees.
IDEA is assisted by advisors representing the Idaho Soil Conservation Commission, Natural Resource Conservation Service and Idaho Association of Soil Conservation Districts and operates according to its own bylaws.
